As per a report from a local media outlet, the committee has issued a seven-day deadline for Binance and its CEO to attend a meeting to address accusations of participating in financial misconduct. The Central Bank of Nigeria has raised concerns about Binance, the biggest cryptocurrency exchange globally, for suspected unlawful activities. Ginger Onwusibe, the head of the Financial Crimes Committee, criticized Binance for ignoring previous requests to communicate. Onwusibe gave a strong warning that the committee would use its constitutional authority if Binance did not adhere to the summons. According to the report, the Committee aims to make Binance responsible for reportedly breaking laws related to business and finance operations in Nigeria. Ginger Onwusibe also mentioned: It is imperative that we safeguard the nation’s finances, particularly as we are facing a steep decline into economic recession. The accusations against Binance for terrorism financing, money laundering, tax evasion, and other offenses are serious, and the committee is demanding that they adhere to tax laws and be held accountable.
