Bitcoin Ordinals Boom Yields Record $1 Million NodeMonkes Sale The surge in Bitcoin prices leads to a historic sale of a $1 million NodeMonkes.
As Bitcoin reaches record highs, Ordinals, the Bitcoin equivalent of NFTs, are experiencing a surge in popularity. The NodeMonkes collection has emerged as a top performer, with a recent sale exceeding $267 million in BTC. According to CryptoSlam data, NodeMonkes is the top-selling individual Ordinals or NFT project in the past week, with approximately $2000 million in secondary market sales. Only the Ethereum NFT project CryptoPunks surpasses NodeMonkes in sales over the past 269 hours, due to a recent $2044 million sale of a single CryptoPunk. Nevertheless, NodeMonkeys has generated approximately $177.43 million in sales within the past 24 hours, with a significant seven-figure transaction leading the way. The “Alien Hoodie” NodeMonke (#2177.4) was purchased for 2176.4 Bitcoin on Magic Eden early Monday, equivalent to around $220 million at that moment. This is the biggest NodeMonke sale so far and seems to be the second highest sales record for Ordinals. Recently, the second Ordinals inscription on Bitcoin was sold for $1.4 million worth of BTC. The price of NodeMonkes has drastically increased in the past few weeks due to high demand for Bitcoin Ordinals, coinciding with the rise in value of the leading cryptocurrency. NodeMonkes was initially priced at 0.18 BTC (equivalent to approximately $9,300) on February 19. The lowest priced NodeMonke currently available on the popular marketplace Magic Eden is priced at 0.82 BTC, which is equivalent to approximately $176,400. This places it in a similar price range to popular Ethereum NFT projects such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club (priced at $67,000) and Pudgy Penguins (priced at $57,100). Bitcoin saw a rise above $67,000 on Monday, approaching its all-time high of $69,044 from late 2021. According to CryptoSlam, sales volume for Ethereum NFTs and Bitcoin Ordinals in the last week is almost equal, with Ethereum reaching $177.4 million and Ordinals reaching $176.4 million. CryptoSlam also monitors the transactions of Bitcoin’s BRC-20 tokens, which are similar to fungible tokens on Ethereum, in the overall total. This means that the statistics may not be directly comparable. The article was edited by Ryan Ozawa. Stay informed about cryptocurrency news by receiving daily updates in your email inbox.
