He requested that the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) step up its surveillance efforts in reaction to the challenge. A pressing need for increased vigilance and regulation was emphasized. President Widodo stressed the importance of taking swift action to prevent money laundering through a range of financial channels in response to the concerning statistics. He stressed the importance of monitoring digital assets, market trends, cryptocurrencies, and AI-based transactions in the crypto and NFT space. In order to stop further financial crimes, he called on regulatory bodies worldwide to stay ahead of money launderers. Mahendra Siregar, the head of the Financial Services Authority’s Board of Commissioners (OJK), reassured Widodo by pledging to take the required measures. He talked about transferring cryptocurrency regulation to the OJK by January 2025, in accordance with Law Number 4 of 2023. The change in oversight is intended to improve monitoring and regulatory oversight of cryptocurrencies. The government has taken a new stance on cryptocurrencies. The upcoming shift in presidential leadership suggests that there will be continued focus on regulating cryptocurrency in Indonesia.
