SuperRare Expands Beyond Ethereum NFTs Into Bitcoin Ordinals Artwork SuperRare is diversifying its offerings by moving beyond Ethereum-based NFTs and into Bitcoin ordinals artwork.

SuperRare, an Ethereum-based NFT marketplace, is expanding to include a new collection of Ordinals inscriptions by Killer Acid, an artist. The San Diego company is known for connecting artists and collectors through their platform on the blockchain. It is known for creating unique digital art pieces that are one-of-a-kind and has been a part of the NFT community for a long time. SuperRare collaborated with the Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace Gamma to introduce inscriptions on their platform. SuperRare did not disclose the number of artworks in the collection set to release on April 11, 2024. The “No Brainers” collection will exclusively focus on Bitcoin and will consist of 1-of-1 pieces, ensuring each artwork is one of a kind. The Ordinals inscriptions will each feature a unique image. Killer Acid is the creation of artist Rob Corradetti, known for his psychedelic artwork. As of now, the artwork from “No Brainers” has not been shown yet. The image above is based on an Ethereum NFT piece titled “Crypto Art” that Killer Acid created on SuperRare in 2022. Last year when I first came across Ordinals, it was still in the early stages of development, with all setups being done manually and relying on trust. “In the beginning, I was not impressed,” explained Zack Yanger, Senior Vice President of SuperRare Labs, in a message to Decrypt. Yanger noted that by the end of 2023, he decided to explore the Ordinals ecosystem more deeply and discovered significant advancements in the space since the protocol’s launch at the beginning of the previous year. Significant infrastructure has been developed in the realm of Ordinals since that time. “SuperRare is constantly seeking innovative methods to assist our artists in their creative endeavors.” Yanger stated that they are excited to start testing with Ordinals after a lot of interest from their artist community. Although Ethereum still dominates in terms of NFT trading volume, Bitcoin is becoming increasingly popular for minting digital artwork and collectibles with the Ordinals protocol introduced last year.
