According to Forbes’ annual billionaire rankings, this fortune would position Nakamoto as the 10th richest person globally, which reported a record 3,028 billionaires with a total net wealth of $16.1 trillion in 2025.

Nakamoto’s wealth stems from their early involvement in Bitcoin’s creation. Between 2008 and 2011, Nakamoto mined a significant portion of the cryptocurrency’s initial blocks, amassing an estimated 1.1 to 2 million BTC, according to various analyses.

Over the years, Bitcoin’s price has soared from virtually nothing in 2009 to $64,000 in September 2024, following a U.S. Federal Reserve rate cut, and further to an ATH at $111,000 in May 2025. 

This meteoric rise has transformed Nakamoto’s holdings into a colossal fortune, highlighting Bitcoin’s unprecedented growth and its creator’s enduring legacy.

Satoshi Nakamoto’s Identity Remains Unrevealed

Despite Nakamoto’s immense wealth, their identity remains one of the greatest mysteries in the tech and financial worlds. Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym, and no definitive proof has confirmed whether they are an individual or a group.

Over the years, several candidates have been proposed, including cryptographic pioneer Hal Finney, computer scientist Nick Szabo, and Australian academic Craig Steven Wright. However, all have either denied the claims or lacked conclusive evidence to support them.

Finney, for instance, was the first to receive a Bitcoin BTC transaction from Nakamoto but denied being the creator before he died in 2014. Wright has claimed to be Nakamoto, backed by some early Bitcoin developers, but his assertions remain widely disputed.

One user, BITCOIN TRADER, argued that Nakamoto must be a group, stating, “No single person could develop and sustain such a project without a collaborative environment.” Another user humorously suggested that Elon Musk might be Nakamoto, reflecting the ongoing public fascination with uncovering the creator’s identity.
