Tesla CEO and former Senior Advisor to the US President, Elon Musk, is slamming the US Congress over its new spending bill. In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Musk didn’t hold back or mince words, saying that the bill is “outrageous.”
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” Musk wrote Monday afternoon. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.” Musk went on to accuse the US Congress of making America Bankrupt. The accusations come a short time after Musk left his post as the head of the US Department of Government efficiency, a team formed earlier this year by Trump to slim the United States’ growing debt.
Elon Musk Thrashes Congress Spending Bill
Elon Musk has been vocal about his disapproval of the US spending budget for years. He initially took the DOGE job to help cut down on US debt, however, he instead approved cuts of several major US programs and funding for crucial projects. For example, DOGE has worked to cut costs and downsize the IRS agency since the establishment of his department. So far, more than 7,300 probationary employees have been terminated.

Furthermore, when Musk and DOGE gave employees an alternative to receive a buyout or be terminated, more than 4,100 workers took the former. The result was experts suggesting next year’s tax season could be riddled with issues like fraudsters and tax evasion.
The new Congress spending bill, officially titled the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” extends Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and boosts funding for border and defense priorities, while making cuts to spending on social safety net programs like Medicaid and food aid. It passed the House last month and is being considered by the Senate, which is expected to make tweaks to the legislation.
